The Case for Predictive Analytics

Still others are now beginning to investigate the area of predictive analytics, which estimate the likelihood of a future outcome based on patterns in historical data. 

For example, predictive analytics can warn providers when a patient’s risk factors indicate a high likelihood for readmission within a 30-day window. This kind of “actionable intelligence” helps contribute to improved clinical outcomes (and avoid related penalties).
